Effective Option

Coach Solich was a great Husker, but not a great head coach. He recruited in state too much and had the QB running the ball way too much in an offense designed to focus on the I-back. That was his sin.

This group think that the Nebraska offense was ineffective flies in the face of the facts: by the early 1990s, most if not all of the powers in college football had gone to a passing attack. It's no coincidence that the big red ran up three titles after that occurred. Nebraska had a strategic advantage both in using an offense that teams didn't see every week and that controlled the clock, and in recruiting players. For example, the best place in the counltry that an option QB could go was NU. Coaches that want to go to the big NFL show love the pass because 30 year old QBs can't last two weeks running the ball. 20 year olds can last the whole season no problem.

I have lived in North Texas for 20 years. Until this year there have been a lot of games on TV and all of the games have been on radio. Now I have to look at the crawlers at the bottom of the TV screen to see what is happening. That is where NE football is now. -- John H.

Something's Amiss...

I am one of those many Husker supporters who religiously back Nebraska football through good times and bad times. I have not missed a home game in the past 15 years and attend away games on a regualr basis, including bowl trips. My parents have season tickets and have attended Husker games for 50 years. My wife's parents are significant boosters of NU. However, I think I am also representative of many Husker fans who believe there is something terirbly amiss with the current state of our football program and that if the trend continues much longer it does not portend well for the future of our "Big Red" whom we are so passionately devoted. We are not as concerned so much about the Win/Loss column rather than the spiritless play we are witnessing from players and questionable game plans from coahes. However, we don't blame the players or coaches for what has transpired the last two seasons. WE BLAME STEVE PEDERSON !!!! Pederson's egocentric and narccissistic personality has allowed him to rationalize and risk the program's tradition, honor and integrity. I hope for the sake of countless Nebraska football fans who find a visceral connection between the "Big Red" and what it means to be a Nebraksan that his gamble is successful. -- Mike G.

New Fight Song...

New Fight Song: There was no place like Nebraska Till Steve, Bill and Harvey came Now our offense is crappy We're way too pass-happy Where is our Running Game?? We do not play like Nebraska!! We need Solich back! We'll all be a grievin' Till Stevie is Leavin' From Dear Old Nebraska U.!! -- Derek F.

Steve Pederson has destroyed everything...

Steve Pederson has destroyed everthing good about nu football. He needs to go! -- Allen S.

"Don't worry. Be happy."

Great web site, this needs to be kept in the public eye. There should be motivation out there to act under the circumstances but the responses I got from Perlman and Pederson both say, "Don't worry. Be happy." They are both in denial. -- Rick R.

Blaming Solich is a weak argument...

I'm getting tired of hearing retarded NU fans blame Frank Solich for the current state of Nebraska football. These fools claim that Solich's recruits are the reason behind poor offensive line play, lack of yardage, lack of scoring, blah, blah, blah. If that's true then Frank Solich is one of the greatest coaches in the nation, because he had a 10-win season the year he got fired with all of those so-called mediocre recruits. It's taken Bill Callahan two seasons to win 10 games with the supposed lousy players recruited by Solich. -- Daren C.

Someone needs a backbone...

It is a disgrace to the traditions set by Solich, Osborn, and Devaney. What does Steve have over Perlman that he will put up with this nonsense? Someone needs a backbone. Perlman was WRONG in letting Pederson fire Solich after a 9-3 season. Where is the great "stuff" that was to come from this change in staff. I'm disgusted. My Nebraska flag is flying upside down. Yes, we're in distress and need help! -- Mary H.

We need a Bob Devaney type to rescue what is left...

The University should start at the top and fire Perlman, then Pederson and send Callahan packing. We need a Bob Devaney type to rescue what is left. Tom and Frankie are gone; however, we need to start at the top. -- D. A. Baragar

Please save Nebraska football...

Bill Callahan makes his teams look like they are the dumbest teams in America. At least he works with the dumbest athletic director in America. I can not believe the excuses that come out of this man's mouth. He gives excuses for his team's lack of execution, excuses for his emotional actions, and he gives excuses for why a team that was 10-3 before he got here, to a team that has managed to winning only 10 games under his leadership (note that I use the term lea! dership very loosely). I was upset the night that they fired a great man and replaced him with an excuse maker who has never understood that Nebraska football is truly about more than winning. I am still mad and disappointed that Nebraska is lead by two men that have no understanding of this concept. In order to save true Nebraska football both of these diseases must be fired. Turner Gill where are you? Joe Glenn do we have a job for you! Please save Nebraska football before it is too late! -- Jacob B.

Screw Pederson!!!!

Thank god I'm not the only one who feels the way I feel. Screw Pederson!!!! -- Andrew M.

Thanks Stevie...

Thanks Stevie, I am glad you got our back and did not let the program gravitate towards mediocrity. You are truly classless. -- Sean D.

Real Big Red do not want to be seen with the brand of Big Red Football...

Wear a paper sack to the game Saturday Nov. 12th. Real Big Red do not want to be seen with the brand of Big Red Football. -- John L.

Maybe it should be Fire Steve and Harvey since...

Maybe it should be Fire Steve and Harvey since Pederson isn't acting alone in this. He's doing the bidding of Perlman [sp?] and the major donors who he promised in '03 that Frank would go. No one's hands are clean here. Bill was poor but Steve and company are worse. -- Sue S. (Loyal Husker fan since 1933)
